Composition

Product made with NHL 3.5 lime, selected aggregates and other additives

Features and applications

  • Highly permeable interior and exterior coating
  • Highly compatible with traditional systems and so suitable for renovation use.
  • Application on newly built interiors and exteriors for enhanced habitability conditions compared with cement-based mortars.
  • Permeable to water vapour, allowing the substrate to breathe.
  • Excellent adherence
  • Great plasticity.
  • Smooth, sponge floated or rougth finish.
  • Contains no cement.
  • Apply by hand or with a pump.
  • Plaster and stucco works.

Substrates

  • Conventional surfaces based on hydraulic binders, brickwork and masonry.
  • Substrates must be resistant, stable, sound and clean, free of dust, demolding agents, organic products, etc.
  • Wet the substrate and wait for the water film to disappear
  • With low-porosity substrates, apply a priming coat (IMPLAFIX) or improve roughness by mechanical means.
  • Do not apply on clay or on paint.
  • Refurbish any areas with lack of cohesion or weak areas in the support. Remove loose parts of masonry and re-clad with MORCEMCAL MURO. To improve the adherence of the rendering, use a sunken finish for joints between masonry parts. Avoid using mortars with cement to prevent formation of salts or salt deposits on the masonry.

Instructions for use

To ensure good compatibility between the surface and the coatings, take the following steps:

  • Wet the substrate copiously until saturated and wait for the surface shine to disappear before applying a uniform layer of Morcemcal Base with an approximate thickness of 0.5 cm. to prevent the appearance of cracks in subsequent layers. Cure the applied material 24 hours after application. The surface should be rough even though it is regulated to remove any excess mortar that may have accumulated in some places.
  • On the following day, moisten before applying MORCEMCAL BASE, mixed by mechanical means, with a thickness from 0.8-1.5 cm using a trowel or projection machine. Although mortar admits a greater thickness, better results are obtained by superposing mortar layers until reaching the desired thickness, as this favors carbonation. Apply the product preferably using a wood float and then proceed to straightedging and subsequent troweling.
  • If it is necessary to apply a greater thickness to level for any differences, wait at least 48 hours before applying between layers , leaving the surface rough to optimise the adherence between each layer.
  • Before finishing coats with MORCEMCAL  ACABADO, wait 24–48 hours per centimetre of mortar base coat. Always wet substrates before a multilayer application.

Cautions and recommendations

  • To ensure waterproofing it is necessary to use Morcemcal Muro
  • Do not apply at temperatures below 5ºC nor above 30ºC.
  • Do not apply when there is a risk of frost, rain, strong wind or direct sunlight.
  • For a thickness of over 1,5 cm, it is advisable to apply the product in two coats.
  • It is advisable to spray water gently on the product the day after it is applied.
  • The mortar must not be stronger than the support.
  • Remove any dust, dirt or salt blooms from the wall.
  • Moisten the wall generously.
  • Superposing layers on the wet mortar ensures good adherence and aids carbonation.
  • Adjust the mixing water, avoiding excesses, until the desired consistency is reached by mixing (3-5 min.)  Do not add to mortar that has already been mixed.
  • The natural origin of the raw materials used in the Morcem Cal mortars, may cause slight changes in color between different production batches.
